Start Your Adventure with a Single Candle

Over the Garden Wall is a hypothetical boutique candle company whose focus is creating unique candles that intrigue and immerse the consumer. Each of their products would be formulated to tell its own story, with the consumer as the intrepid adventurer climbing over the garden wall. Thus, the primary objective of their packaging is to create an immersive, evocative, unique experience for each consumer, limited only by where their imagination can take them.

Scent options and descriptions for Over the Garden Wall's new line of candles were the primary consideration for this project. The ideas that had the most potential to be built into an illustration and a scent were chosen and “ingredients” (or rather, the scents that make up the candle’s scent) were picked for each. Each box’s color scheme relies primarily on dark grey/black gradients combined with an accent color. The accent color depends entirely on the illustration. The interior of the box where the product would be housed, however, is intended to be coated in gold/rose gold foil. This plays into the fairytale aspect of the brand and the concept of a hidden treasure. The descriptions of each scent are meant to transport the consumer to a different time and place and allow them to envision the scene described in their mind’s eye. Each candle’s scent would be a similar experience.
