Exploring with a Colorful Companion

In the Dungeons & Dragons spell “Plane Shift” a player travels to another plane of existence by simply linking hands and specifying their target destination. Planar Shift was designed as a new travel app focused on targeting a higher end millennial consumer and is based upon that same concept. These consumers have money to spend on international travel and luxury- or at least very comfortable -vacations. Often these consumers will be traveling from a big city and want to literally shift their plane to one that is completely different, say a stress-free countryside. They need a resource that will suit their needs and make planning their trip simple, both before and during. Color plays an important role in the app’s design. Each screen depicts a different gradiated background, carefully formulated from colors found in the user’s location. Each page also features a call to action as its headline, meant to engage the user and communicate precisely what the page is to be used for.

An extensive outdoor public transport campaign will promote the launch of the app with the primary target audience being travelers of all ages, with advertising placed on bus shelters and in airports worldwide. Print ads will also be placed in popular travel magazines. Planar Shift will also partner with hotels and create a brochure to be placed in guest’s rooms promoting use of the app during their stay.
